John William Collins passed away peacefully Monday, January 27, 2014. He was 66 years old.
John was born in San Francisco, California on August 8, 1947 to
John and Helen Collins.
He leaves behind three brothers and three sisters, (Robert, Marilyn, Kate, Helen, Jimmy, & Gerry), and his Mother, Helen.
John was raised in Denver, Colorado and graduated from
Alameda High in Lakewood and from Metro State College in Denver. He enjoyed long distance running.
John was an Army Dog Handler and he served his country with the 212th MP at Long Binh, South Vietnam with his faithful service dog REX.
John worked for the Federal Government at the Federal Center
in Denver with the Bureau of Reclamation upon returning from the Army.
John had a long life and believed in serving those who were
less fortunate in society. He was a
tireless worker and an advocate for the Handicapped.
John
will he will be interned at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
The family requests that donations be made in John's name, to the Vietnam Dog Handler Association (VDHA).
