Hello Dave Broeker,

I am the nephew of SP/4 David G. Monsour, a scout dog handler of the 212th MP Company (Sentry Dog).

I was looking up info on my uncle and I saw a misprint that I didn’t notice in his obituary article you posted when he passed away.  Needless to say, my heart and eyes were elsewhere at that time.  I miss him very much.

It says he was born in Onalaska, Wi which is wrong.  He along with my father and 3 more of his brothers were born in New London, Wisconsin to Richard and Crystal Monsour.

I hope I’m not being a pain, but I just wanted things to be correct.  His 2nd oldest brother, Dale passed away last year....my father.  I miss him very much as well!

Then 10 months after that I lost my one and only big brother, who was obviously David’s other nephew.  I wanted to tell you that the service for David with the gun salute, was absolutely amazing and almost brought me to my knees, but my son held me up.

My uncle was a one of a kind individual, but I figure to go and do the things you and all the rest of our men had to do, probably molds that type of individual.

My mother received some very fascinating pictures, not too long ago, that my uncle took while on the ground in Vietnam.  Some of them are hooch’s and I’m almost positive a few are of him and his dog. He loved that dog something fierce and it broke his heart what he had to do before he came back state side.

Well my point is I might be able to get a hold of those pictures, and if we can figure out how to get them to you without actually sending the real ones out to you, I want you to have them to show on your sight. The originals must stay with me.  We also have a copy of the Time Magazine he was in after the battle he earned his bronze star in.

Well if you are interested let me know. My email is matthewmonsour5@gmail.com.  I hope I did this right!  I’m not good at this e-mail stuff.

God bless,
Matthew Monsour
