Augie, Tan Son Nhut, 1970
Biography:
I served in Viet-Nam with the 377SPS as a sentry dog handler, Augie and Fritz. After Nam I attended the 2nd Drug Detector Dog class and had the first drug dog, Bullet, on the gulf coast. I was assigned to Keesler AFB, Miss. I went RAF Bentwaters, UK in 1973 and handled sentry dog, Randy. I attended the British Drug Detector course and handled Kim, a British drug dog. In 1978 I was assigned to 18th SPS at Kadena AB, Okinawa and handled drug dog Narc and later Chief. My final experience with K-9 was at Robins AFB , Ga where I worked with SSgt Russell and Duke as part of an explosives dog team, working with the Secret Service, providing advance support for President Carter. I currently work as an industrial electrician and own a german shepherd, Buddy, and a cattle dog, named Sasha.
