Richard L.  Thompson, 69, of Ipava, Illinois passed away at 3:38 p.m.  on Monday, Nov.  5, at his son's home in Ipava.


He was born on Feb.  16, 1943, in Lewiston, Ill., the son of William Elzie and Margaret Lucille (Brown) Thompson.  He married Emma Marie Corey.


He was a U.S.  Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1967 to 1968 with a rank of SP4 (T).  He was a farmer, and a member of the Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont and the Pleasant Township Board.


He is survived by son Scott Thompson of Ipava, sister Patricia (Marvin) Kaup of Chewelgh, Wash., and grandson Zach Thompson of Ipava.


He is preceded in death by his parents.


Services will be at 10 a.m.  on Friday, Nov.  9, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. 

 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.  on Thursday, Nov.  8, at the funeral home. 

 

Internment will be at Ipava Cemetery with military rites provided by the Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26. 

 

Memorials can be made to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program in Macomb, Illinois.
