National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB Museum Curator Looking for Artifacts
The curator of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, Mr. Jeff Duford, is looking for artifacts and archival material that are valuable for display and/or for study. This includes, but is not limited to photographs, slides, uniforms, patches, memorabilia, dog collars/tags, signs, etc., from in theater during the war. These items are even more valuable if they are identified and have a story related to a significant action, person, and/or dog (e.g.-"a certain individual wore this fatigue shirt while defending Tan Son Nhut during the Tet Offensive").
He has a somewhat short window to consider items for display. Such material has to physically be collected by 29 April, 2011. Jeff apologizes for having such a short notice. Also, he can't make any promises about particular items going on display, but regardless of whether something is on display or not, He would really like to build the Museum's study collection related to USAF dog handlers in SEA. The National Museum of the USAF has very little related to this important part of the Air Force's history. A significant part of the Museum's mission is to preserve material for study and possible future display, even though the public does not see this part of the Museum's work.
Those who have material they would be willing to donate can contact Jeff directly, and he can fill them in on the details of donating artifacts and archival material to the Museum.
