Subject: MWDs Milly and Argo Need Your HELP NOW!!!

Hi MWD Supporters!

I am writing today to ask you for support (and/or ideas) in helping two OCONUS MWD's get back to the U.S., now that their years of devoted service to the military are over. You can see from the email records I am including, exactly what the whole up-to-the-minute situation is with these MWDs. Obviously, I have obscured the contact information for privacy reasons since the military member is still on Active Duty. At this moment, I do not know the MWDs' age, gender, breed or specialities...I DO KNOW that they are HEROES and have devotedly served our country for years! I DO KNOW I have a passionate desire to HELP them have wonderful lives beyond the military.

Here is all the info the OCONUS handler sent me this a.m.:

"Milly and Argo may be available now. The cost to send them back to the States seems to be too much for the two guys that were going to adopt them. The cheapest they could find was $550 for transport. They are still trying to figure out another way..."

The handler is going to find out if the folks who really wanted them would still adopt them if we can help with transport costs. If not, the handler is transferring back to the U.S. in October and is willing to bring them back on his commercial flight...and keep them for two weeks while I find homes for them!

FINDING HOMES for these Hero K-9s is NOT A PROBLEM...

FUNDS for transporting them IS a problem!!

THIS IS JUST PLAIN WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! OCONUS MWDs deserve a "return to home station" (Lackland) so they can be adopted out! I am working on this issue with Congressman Jones...but change is SLOW.  MWDs will die before the DOD decides to rectify this issue! SO WE MUST STEP IN and DO what WE can right now! I do not even want to THINK about HOW MANY adoption- suitable OCONUS MWDs have been euthanized over the years because someone could not afford to transport them back to the U.S.! We can't change what has happened, but we CAN change the future of MWDs Milly and Argo and all other MWDs that we receive word about!

I have NEVER before asked anyone for MONEY.  Mike and I have completely supported the Military Working Dog Adoptions website mission on our own...but THIS is about our HERO MWDs and their ability to have a "life after their military service".   If you should wish to DONATE to this cause, I have established a PAY PAL account at http://www.militaryworkingdogadoptions.com . We are not yet a 501(c)3. That is in the works. The AMOUNT you donate does not matter.  EVERY BIT puts us that much closer to helping these MWDs. If there are funds left over, we will save them for such dire situations as these, for whatever will benefit our retiring MWDs until we get the administrative CHANGES we need from the DOD!

Until such time, we TOGETHER, can "velvet bulldoze" under the radar for the benefit of our OCONUS MWDs! Feel free to send this email to any of your contacts you think can help! If ONLY we can be as FAITHFUL to our retiring MWDs as they have been in serving America!

WILL YOU HELP Military Working Dog Adoptions HELP our retiring MWDs find FOREVER HOMES after their military years are over?

Thank you for caring!

Warmest wishes,

Debbie and Mike Kandoll and MWD Benny B163 (Ret.), too! http://www.militaryworkingdogadoptions.com

Debbie,

There have been some possible changes of plans. Milly and Argo may be available now. The cost to send them back to the states seems to be too much for the two guys that were going to adopt them. The cheapest they could find was $550 for transport.

I mentioned that you had previously told me you could raise the money and find a home for them to the kennel master. He told me to see what you could do. If you're serious about this, then he may be able to do it for you. I'm not sure what the commercial number is to call him, but here is his email: XXXXXXXX You can tell him that you talked to me about it.

Their packages are at Lackland and are almost done. He wanted me to stress that if you did decide to do this you would be responsible for paying for transport and any additional fees if there are diversions. I didn't mention this to him, but a thought to consider is I could feasibly transport them with me on my plane ticket back to the states on October 15th. I fly in to XXXXXX on the 15th as well and can hold on to Argo or Milly for you for at least a few weeks before I drive to my next duty assignment. I could probably get a vari kennel, but I would need to be reimbursed for the cost of the transport--it may be cheaper that way, I really don't know. You can talk to TSgt XXXXX about that.

Hi Debbie,

Sorry for taking so long to respond. It looks like all three dogs are going to be adopted by people here. If one of them falls through, I will let you know!

Hi Jxxxxx!

How are things in your part of the world? I am just checking in to see how everything is going with regard to the two MWDs that might be declared excess! I KNOW we can get them adopted if the pass they Adoption Suitability Test and are deemed suitable.

Things are beginning to pick up speed here...and I feel certain we could get sufficient donations to pay for their transport CONUS when and if the time comes !!

Anyhow, if those MWDs are being dispo'd and are suitable for adoption, I'd sure appreciate any and all info as you receive it! I know we could help them find good retirement homes!

Thanks for caring about our MWDs as you do! Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

God bless you,

Debbie Kandoll
