While not a combat dog handler, I spent 6 years in the Air Force, 4 years of which were spent as a dog handler. My dog Jerry and I were perimeter trackers in southern Germany at Spangdahlem AB. Spang housed the largest Nuclear armement in USAFE. We also spent some time in Tripoli during the Isreal – Egypt war in ’67. At only 7 years old and after 4 years together my dog was put down because of hip dysplasia. Always K-9.
