In August of 1966, I was on my way to a Tactical Maintenance outfit in the Philippines. Prior to my departure, I relinquished my prize possession, Prince, to the Air Force for their Sentry Dog program. He was found to be too Aggressive for this. He was transfered to the Army and sent to Ft Benning. After several failed attempts to find a compatible handler, he was assigned to Sgt Karl Brandenberg. As fate would have it I had the opportunity to meet Sgt Brandenberg at the Air Force hospital at Clark AFB, Philippines. He had written me to earlier to inform me that Prince, 30X7, 48th IPSD, had been KIA, and in the process had saved the Sgt’s life. This occurred while sweeping the jungle near the Cambodian border. I still have that letter and an article from what appears to be from a local post paper which details the events. If anyone knows the whereabouts of Sgt Brandenberg please let me know.
